In renovations, the sewer is already under the floor and the drain opening is cut; connect the drain to the shower pan is a simple process. If you are new construction, install the grid strainer under the floor and cut the drain port before connecting the drain to the shower pan.
Lift the grid strainer disk outside the center of the filter unit. Turn the large nut on the back of the drain filter unit counterclockwise. Remove the nut and gaskets rubber. Let others gasket on the screen. Slip the second gasket on the threaded portion of the unit from the back of the shower pan. Turn the nut back on the thread and tighten it with a wrench.

Set shower pan in place, centering the drain port of the drain pipe to the floor. Pull the drain pipe up through the screen opening in the shower pan using small pliers, if possible. If not, have a helper working under the floor pushing the tube up through the screen opening and hold it steady.
Press compression seal, which is cylindrical and flexible, around the drain pipe until the top of the gasket is flush with the top of the tube. The gasket should fit tight. Release the tube; gasket, keeping it from falling through the screen opening. Replace grid strainer disc filter unit.
